Our story

We followed our curiosity into coffee.

We traded clinics and courtrooms for coffee cherries and fermentation tanks, then began building Vismaya one harvest, one experiment, and one cup at a time.

First-generation planters

Learning in public. Growing with purpose.

We did not inherit generations of coffee wisdom. That makes us beginners in the truest and most energising sense, constantly observing, measuring, tasting, questioning, and learning from the people around us.

Our hope is to build a community where growers, roasters, brewers, baristas, researchers, and coffee lovers exchange ideas freely. Great coffee, to us, is born from curiosity, collaboration, and the willingness to keep learning.

Field & cultivation

Vishal

Lawyer · Coffee roaster · Planter

Vishal traded the roastery for the plantation. Today, he works to understand our terroir through a scientific approach, improving soil health, managing shade, experimenting with cultivation, and making thoughtful decisions long before harvest begins.

Post-harvest & sensory

Manasa

Ophthalmologist · Processor · Sensory practitioner

Manasa's curiosity found a home in post-harvest processing: fermentation trials, microbial cultures, drying protocols, cupping, sensory analysis, and storytelling. She has completed SCA Sensory Skills Intermediate and keeps exploring how science shapes flavour.

Different responsibilities

One shared vision.

Coffee brought us together in a way we never imagined. Now it gives us a common language for asking better questions.

What our name means

Wonder, rooted in place.

Vismaya is a Kannada and Sanskrit word for wonder, that quiet feeling when something beautiful stops you in your tracks. It resonates with both our names and with what coffee continues to reveal to us.
